Platform Servers

Exclaim’s server-based platform supports a wide range of functionality and deployment scenarios, and is modular so that only essential functionality need be implemented.

Exclaim's DMM MediaMgr is the heart of the DMM platform. It enables bi-directional content flow to and from mobile devices and also includes our Device Database that maps critical functionality available to the user by handset model. The Device Database provides all details on the available features of the handset (e.g. resolution, MMS transport, memory access, camera and optics profiles) and maps it by specific carrier to determine what and how content can be transported, which DMEPs are accessible and then decides the DMM functionality that can be utilized by the user.

MediaMgr communicates with the handset via our Mobile Device API. This can utilize DMM client code of the type included in our Pictavision and Teleprints applications (effectively, an on-device portal), as well as a client-less or customized client deployment scenarios for less feature rich handsets. The next JAVA client release (v7) will also permit “channel viewing” to support media viewing portals and streamed content.

The DMEP API is also part of the MediaMgr server and provides all communication services to/from external DMEPs; from web sites to home devices. Content flow is handled through standardized DMEP APIs such as SOAP, XML and XML/RPC.

Users of mobile devices can upload, view and download any content type, as well as select any or several Digital Media Exchange Points (content “destinations”) from the device. WAP or even a web browser may be used and both single and multi-file upload (including a background mode) is supported. Voiceover, text tags and captions can be added and shortly users will also be able to add location based and bulk, pre-defined server tags to facilitate on-the-fly server tagging, and future searching of captured content.

Exclaim’s DMM MediaMgr supports many security features and includes multiple authentication models. In combination, this permits “NEW” subscriber acquisition via the mobile device.

Media Mgr incorporates all of the critical sharing, image management and messaging functionality within the server and optional client components. Modules include: Device Manager, Address Book, Advertising Manager, Transport Manager, Authentication, Language Manager, Reporting & Logs, User Administration, as well as the Portal & Content Manager.

Exclaim’s DMM Teleprints server and client modules connect mobile devices directly to print service providers worldwide. Functionality is provided to define and select print orders, route them to the necessary provider and make use of handset integrated or DMM supplied features such as address books.

Teleprints supports direct-from-mobile-device printing and ordering of selected merchandise. Fulfillment can be via click-to-retail (printing and pick-up at a retail outlet), postal delivery or delivery via kiosk networks. The technology is agnostic to network type, thus cellular, WiFi and internet/intranet are all supported with options for MNO, retailer or independent billing.

The intent behind Teleprints is to simplify printing from a handset or other mobile device. To this end, the module supports an integrated address book for “voice-centric” handsets as well as on-handset retail store search and lookup. Teleprints also supports printing from digital cameras and other capture devices via WiFi, with setup defaults being set using the DSC menu or a web portal.

The core handset client is feature rich and can be deployed as-is, or repurposed and integrated into the sharing and uploading functionality of the Pictavision client. All necessary administration features, including vendor administration, user administration via the Teleprints order tracking and history portal, billing and CRM management are all part of the Teleprints module.

DMM PhotoFix has been designed to address some of the perceived limitations of camera phone images today. PhotoFix permits (at the user’s option) auto photo enhancement on image upload. This is managed via our Image enhancement server and proprietary sample correction library, which adjusts for specific handset models, time of day (and time-zones), indoor or outdoor settings as well as flash selection options.

PhotoFix can be integrated into a handset’s existing UI, managed via WAP or Web administration portal, or as part of our core client where it is surfaced as a feature within Pictavision or Teleprints handset applications; or surfaced in a customized manner for integrated client deployments.

In the future, PhotoFix functionality will be expanded to include correction and compression of video clips as well as still images.

Exclaim’s DMM Digital Content Portal can be used to provide a complete white labeled end-to-end digital content portal - in any language.

It supports photos and videos, and permits text and audio tags to be added to any content uploaded from a mobile device. The comprehensive eCommerce engine supports customized UIs, many editing tools and multiple album designs. It’s extensive printing and merchandising APIs allow access to enhanced services such as photo and photo-book printing, merchandising templates for products such as mugs and calendars as well as integration with multiple country and geographic partners. The engine also supports uploading and downloading from a desktop client on both Windows and OSX, and many other value-added features. These include a media show creation engine, a comprehensive customer marketing system, various admin consoles and extensive reporting.

The Digital Content Portal can be fully integrated with a custom handset client for carrier deployment, off-deck downloading from D2C marketing portals and integrated in a client-less scenario through short-code, embedded URLs and WAP on virtually any mobile handset.

Exclaim has years of experience designing, deploying and maintaining digital content portals for many global brands, and can operate them for customers on its proprietary and highly scalable, low-cost storage architecture with rock solid SLAs.

Exclaim’s DMM Community/Blog Portal is based on Treemo’s proven social community and UGC management technology. Community/BLOG Portal is a comprehensive multi-screen community and digital content blog tool that permits the creation of virtually any type of real-time social media mobile-enabled portal. Treemo’s technology powers CBS, 3Gdodo, Flycell and Airtel community platforms and is the leading platform on the market today from both a scalability and functionality perspective. The portal can be integrated within Exclaim’s Pictavision branded or white-label custom clients, and also supports mobile browser-only and carrier short-codes for broader market coverage.

The upcoming v7 Pictavision client will deliver even more functionality with tighter integration of our Community/Blog Portal server with enhanced blog and social community support through its media channel syndication to handsets, alerts and community page viewing.

Exclaim’s DMM Sync server and associated handset client code allows mobile device content to be automatically uploaded and synchronized in a single or bi-directional manner with a user selected desktop computing device running either Microsoft Windows or Apple OSX.

DMM Sync server will provide service provider and/or user with selectable polling and sync options for replicating content captured on a registered mobile device with the target desktop computer. Not surprisingly, more than 70% of all digital content produced is destined for a users’ primary desktop computer, the main storage device for most consumers’ digital content. As users utilize newer home media devices such as media center and MSO boxes as their primary storage and viewing system, DMM Sync will give consumers the additional option for synchronizing content with these other devices.
