Ashok Roy is a Partner at India-Star Ventures and co-heads India related investments for the firm.
His investment interests include a broad range of sectors including information technology, manufacturing and infrastructure services. He specializes in business building - prior to Sycamore he was Corporate Vice President at Intelligroup, an India-US based IT outsourcing company; he helped grow the sales from $42M to $179M in little more than two years through a combination of acquisitions and organic growth. On behalf of Sycamore Ash has led and co-led a number of investments in the US and in India. Some of his recent investments/board representations include Exclaim (Consumer Service), Clear Technology (BPO Software) and Lightspin Technologies (IT) and certain other Indian companies. Previously, he spent a number of years in mergers and acquisitions with Broadview/Jefferies Group. Ash started his professional career in software sales at the Tokyo office of Aavid Technologies, a $250M revenue industrial software provider.
Ashok has a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and an MBA from the Wharton School. Ash is an avid mountain climber, and speaks fluent Japanese.
